Boris North American Tour 2024 “Amplifier Worship Service”

In 2024, Boris will undergo a tour performing all the songs off their first album. We have already reached a quarter-century since the release of that 1st album, “Amplifier Worship”. Boris has been in constant pursuit of their own ideal “heavy” since their formation in 1992. From the outset they became like a chimera, evolving at a rapid pace, establishing a unique style with extreme downtuning and megavolume. Their broad sense of “Heavy Rock” swelled grotesquely, as it engulfed powerviolence, ambient and drone, with a trance component of krautrock and so on.

From Tokyo to the world, Boris spread out from the underground community to have their name become more widely known. Five years after their formation, Boris went deep into the beyond of heavy music to make their first album, one that can be said to be a palace constructed in unexplored realms. However, the album by no means serves as a peaceful “end” or resting place/”gravestone” for those compositions. Rather, it was a map to the “beyond” that Boris drew up at the time, a blueprint pointing to the future. 25 years after the release of “Amplifier Worship”, that guidance has been revealed: a full length tour for performing all of the songs on the album in a double-drum-format Drone Set.

As a pioneering effort in Drone Metal, a palace under the name of “Amplifier Worship” was constructed and revealed as both a point of departure as well as a destination. Amplified oscillations and volume, going from anguish to pleasure and back, being in fear as well as in awe at what can be called heavy— we venture into this palace of worship together.
For this tour Boris are taking along Starcrawler, a band that intensifies the prayer of rock ‘n’ roll. This only takes us further into the “beyond,” embarking on this worship service. Welcome to the ceremony!

“and 2 Years Later”

In 1994, a live recording on 8-track analog open-reel tape was unearthed and released.
After Pandemic, the formation with Atsuo in charge of Vocal is becoming a standard set.
For the first four years after Boris was formed, Atsuo was originally in charge of Vocal.
In 1996, drummer Nagata left the band, and Atsuo became the drummer and vocalist.
Boris, who had been self-recording since the beginning, brought an open-reel analog 8-track tape recorder to the venue to record.
This is a documentary album made two years after the beginning.

1994年、8トラックのアナログオープンリールテープで録音されていたライブ盤を発掘。
パンデミック以降はAtsuoがVocalを執る編成がスタンダードセットになりつつある。
Borisを結成して4年間、Atsuoのパートは元々Vocalであった。
96年にドラムのNagataが脱退し、AtsuoがドラムとVocalを兼任することとなる。
当初からセルフレコーディングを行なっていたBorisは、会場にオープンリールのアナログ
トラックテープレコーダーを持ち込み、この録音をおこなっていた。

これは始まりから2年後のドキュメンタリー作品。

A live recording of boris performing all of the songs from their album “fade” will be released.

The album “fade” was released under their all-lowercase moniker “boris” as the 3rd of three albums released in the Boris 30th Anniversary Year of 2022. In commemoration of this double-vinyl release, boris performed a special show of all the songs on the album on April 2, 2023.
With a stack of amps far exceeding any usual amount projecting mega volume that those in witness could feel through all of their organs, in a natural sense the live performance was akin to a “ritual” of becoming one with the music— a night that widely opened the audience’s doors of perception. This live recording fully captures and translates that ultimate dynamism as a documentary work. The range of a “thunderous roar” beyond description— you will now come to know a part of it and its meaning.

borisのアルバム『fade』全曲を披露した公演のライブ盤がリリースされる。

Boris結成30周年の2022年にアルバム三連作の締めくくりとしてリリースされた小文字表記borisアルバム『fade』。
その2枚組アナログ盤リリースを記念し、収録曲全てを披露したスペシャルライブが2023年4月2日に行われた。
尋常ではない物量のアンプ群から放たれる大音量を身体の全器官により感じ、本来的な意味で音楽と一体となる”儀式”と言えるこの公演は、
オーディエンスの知覚の扉を大きく開く夜となった。
このライブ盤はその究極のダイナミズムを余すところなく記録、翻訳したドキュメント作品である。
筆舌に尽くしがたい領域の”轟音”、その一端と意味をあなたは知ることになる。

結成40年を経て今なおヘヴィなサウンドで様々なシーンに多くの影響を与え続けるMelvins。
待望の来日公演が2024年3月に開催されることは既に発表されていますが、3月19日、20日の渋谷 WWW Xで行われる東京2Days公演にスペシャルゲストとしてBorisの出演が決定。

両者による特殊セルフ・カバー・コラボレーション・アルバム“hello there” のリリースを記念して11月に行なわれた東名阪ツアーは各地盛況のうちに終了。スペシャルゲストに明日の叙景を迎えたツアーでは現行音楽シーンの先鋭/異端といえる３バンドが集い、それぞれが持つHeavy Rock、Death/Black Metal、Hard Core、シューゲイズ、アニソン、J-Popなど様々な文脈を集束/乱反射させた、世界でも類を見ない内容となった。三者三様な音の佇まいや活動の時間軸は違えども、根底に流れる「血」は、エクストリーム・ミュージックの歴史と未来を鮮烈に提示した。
ツアーにおいてアルバムが先行発売され、既に手にしたオーディエンスからは絶賛の嵐が巻き起こっている。2024年1月24日の一般発売を待ち望むリスナーが多い中、発売後の2月15日に“hello there” tour -premium-と銘打った追加公演が新代田FEVERにてU-desper recordsとの共同で開催されることが決定した。今回の公演はよりオーディエンスに近接する規模で行なわれ、COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS とBorisの生音を直接肌で体感するショウとなる。ツアー先行、スプリット・アルバム・リリースを経て、両バンドのまさに蜜月の只中で行われる“hello there” tour -premium- 。それぞれに趣向を凝らしたスペシャル・ロングセットが予定されており、彼らが見せつけるさらなる未来のカタチとその高まりを堪能して欲しい。更にDJとして両者に浅からぬ縁のある掟ポルシェの出演も決定。

COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS x Boris collaboration album will be on sale to the general public in February!
In November, Boris and COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS toured Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka in celebration of the release of their special self-cover collaboration album “hello there,” and the tour was a great success. The tour, which featured special guest Asu No Jokei, brought together three bands that can be considered cutting-edge/heretical in the current music scene, and converged/diffused various contexts such as heavy rock, death/black metal, hard core, shoegaze, anime songs, and J-pop, resulting in a content that is unparalleled in the world. The contents of the album are unparalleled in the world. Despite the differences in the three groups’ sound and timeframes, the “blood” that flows in the base of their music vividly presents the history and future of extreme music.

The album was released in advance during the tour, and has already received rave reviews from the audiences who have already had a chance to hold it in their hands. The “hello there” tour – premium – will be held at Shindaita FEVER in Tokyo on February 15. This show will be held on a larger scale, closer to the audience, so that the audience can experience the live sound of COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS and Boris directly on their own skin. The “hello there” tour -premium- will take place in the midst of a honeymoon between the two bands, following the release of the split album and the tour. Each band is scheduled to perform a special long set, each with its own twist, and we hope that you will enjoy the future shape of the two bands and the heightened excitement they will show us. In addition, the DJ for the event will be Code Porsche, who has a close relationship with the two groups.
